The four gods who rule the island (Asaka: mother of the earth, Agwé: god of water, Erzulie: goddess of love, and Papa Ge: demon of death) arrange for Ti Moune to find love. The heartfelt pursuit of love between the two young people changes the lives of their island and their families forever. Agwe. Agwe is the ruler of the sea, sort of like Poseidon in Greek Mythology. He’s in charge of all plants and animals in the sea, as well as every ship that sails on it. Naturally, he’s the patron loa of fishermen and sailors. Agwe likes painted shells and oars, sealife like starfish and seahorses, as well as gunfire and military uniforms.
